Marithia Michella Waters

Marithia "Pookey" Michella Waters, 53, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 18, 2019, at Carle Foundation Hospital. She was born on January 21, 1966, in Urbana, Illinois to the late Pastor Raymond and Joan Winfrey.

She was a graduate from Centennial High School, class of 1984 where she played softball and was a member of both the Treble and Chamber choirs, the Afro-American Club, the Half Nelsons, and Upward Bound. Marithia loved her family, music, reading, playing games and having a good time. She was a charter member of Crossroad of Life Community Church, Rantoul, and served as the Financial Secretary.

Marithia was well known for being blunt and straightforward and always being her TRUE, transparent self in every situation. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Marithia is survived by her three beautiful children, Richauna, Antonio and RaNeise; her beloved grandson, Aaric Raymond; her step-daughter, Jordan; her mother, Joan; her sister, Regina (Damon); her brother, Dwayne, her sister-in-law Jill and plenty of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan; her father, Raymond; her daughter, Richeena; and her brother, Cardell.

A memorial service will commence at 12'noon, Saturday March 2, 2019 at Crossroad of Life Community Church 310 Borman Ave., Rantoul IL 61866. Leek & Sons Funeral Home Urbana in charge of arrangements.
