The Lord God formed man from the dust of the earth. He blew into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul. And so, Willie (Brown) Robinson, on June 10,1941, in Webb, Mississippi, became a living soul who was placed in the care of her beloved parents, Maybell and Dank Brown. Together, Mr. And Mrs. Brown had nine children and on March 5, 2022, the last living child of Maybell and Dank Brown took her final breath and answered God’s call to come home from her labor on earth.
On January 19,1961, Willie married her devoted husband of 61 years, Mr. Leroy Robinson Sr. Through her good days and bad days, Mr. Robinson served his wife faithfully. Even when met with new responsibilities and challenges, he served his wife with compassion and joy. From this union, the Robinson legacy began with nine children.
After 27 years of service at VA Illiana Health Care, Willie spent most of her time caring for her family, traveling, gardening, worshiping at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and cheering on her children and grandchildren at their sporting and academic events. Willie impacted many people in her neighborhood and community and you would often hear her children and grandchildren’s friends calling her “Mom” or “Grandma” too.
Willie also loved to cook and have family gatherings. On any given Sunday you were guaranteed a nice southern home-cooked meal along with a comedy show. Willie treated everyone that walked through her doors like family.
Willie was the light of her large-loving family and she demonstrated daily how to lead with unconditional love. Her love was the strong foundation that her family stood on. Forming lifelong bonds with her children and grandchildren is what helped sustain her family’s foundation. May she always be remembered for her selfless service to her family, her nurturing spirit and her ability to bring joy and laughter to all that entered her space.
Willie leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Mr. Leroy Robinson Sr; three sons, Leroy (Evonne) Robinson Jr., Stacy (Latashia) Robinson, Dennis (Dayna) Robinson and five daughters, Doris Bostic, Diane (Orlando) Robinson, Gail Robinson, Wendy Robinson and Jill Robinson who all selflessly helped take care of their mother during her sickness until her very last days.
