Willie James Mosby

Willie James Mosby, 78 of Danville, transitioned from this life, on June 9, 2020 at his residence.  Willie was born on June 25, 1941 in Senatobia, Mississippi to Walter Columbus and Pauline Cathion Mosby.

Willie met the love of his life Juanita Gillespie in 1962 at Britllin Cafeteria in Memphis, TN. On June 10, 1963, one year after meeting, they were united in Holy Matrimony. Willie and Juanita celebrated 56 wonderful years together. To this union, 2 sons were born: Willie J. Mosby Jr., and William Earl Mosby.

Willie retired from Ali Chemical after more than 30 years of faithful service.

He enjoyed mechanical projects, reading, cooking, barbecuing, traveling, assisting family and friends, and playing Bingo.

Willie was full of life, enjoyed life and never met a stranger.

Willie leaves to cherish his amazing memory, his loving wife and diligent caretaker, Juanita Mosby of Danville, IL. One son Willie James Mosby Jr., of Memphis, TN. Two grandchildren Nigel Mosby of Memphis, TN and Taquita Clark of Memphis, TN. Siblings: Maurice (Pearlie) Mosby of Memphis, TN; Harry (Joyce) Mosby of Millington, TN; Pauline (Harold) Brewer of Arlington, TN; B.B. Mosby of Miami, FL; Eugenia (Henry Leon) Williams of Memphis, TN; Henry Allen Mosby of Memphis, TN; and Shirley Mosby of Arlington, TN.

A host of loving in laws, countless nieces and nephews, and special friends: Mary Brooks, Wendy Coe, Dwight Atkins and Karen Broaders and family.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents, a son William Earl Mosby, siblings Ruby Marzett, Walter C. Mosby, Lucile Hibbler, Minnie L. Webster, Mae Ella Pryor and Tommie Lee Mosby.

A public visitation will commence from 1-5’pm, Sunday, June 14, 2020 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home 304 East Williams Street, Danville. Funeral Services will begin at 11’am, Monday June 15, 2020.  Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.
