WILLIE MAY “SALLY” MILTON, 93, passed away on Friday July 8, 2022 in Champaign, Illinois.
Born on November 26, 1928 in Winfield, Kansas, she was the daughter of William Robert and Bertha (Brannon) Johnson. She was raised and received her education in Winfield, later earning her GED. She lived the majority of her life in Winfield where she worked for Winfield State Hospital and Cessna Aircraft. Later in life, she touched the lives of many children working as a teacher’s aide at National Jewish Health in Denver, Colorado and Lowell Elementary in Winfield, Kansas. In 1987, she moved to Denver, Colorado where she resided for over 20 years. There she made lifelong friends whom she cherished dearly. She spent her last several years living in Champaign where she spent wonderful times with her grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Willie May enjoyed sewing, gardening, visiting with many family and friends in person and on the telephone. She was active in community service in Denver. Her greatest passion was her relationship with Jesus Christ whom she found through the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She remained an active member of the church throughout her life.
Her family includes:
Her beloved son, Howard Milton and wife Barclay of Champaign;
Her grandchildren, who she adored: Connor, Claire and Callie Milton of Champaign;
Her brother, Arthur Johnson of Kansas City, Missouri ;
Her sister, Laura Mathis of Denver, Colorado;
Her special friends, Rodney and Jan Tingle of Dallas, Texas.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Milton;
By her brothers; Porter Brown, Lonnie Johnson, Parkie Johnson;
By her sisters; Peggy Crawford, Ruby Cox and Sue Jean Brooks.
Her greatest love of all was her son, Howard, whom she absolutely adored.
The family will be having a private celebration of her life on Monday July 18, 2022.
