William Morefield Obituary

William “Willie” James Morefield 65, peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord at 7:04 PM on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute Indiana.

 William was born on September 17, 1955 in Danville, Illinois, to Claude and Dorothy Morefield. He attended Georgetown Public Schools where he met many of his lifelong friends. Willie graduated from Georgetown High School in 1973, and then attended several semesters at Indiana State University.

Willie enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1978. After being honorably discharged, he worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections, Barkman Chevrolet, the Department of Veterans Affairs and in the field of Customer Service until his health failed him.

William loved life and lived it to the fullest. His smile was infectious, his laugh was contagious and his voice was commanding.  Standing tall at 6’5, His presence was undeniable. He was formally married to Marcia Randle-Keys and then later married Laura Houpt. Later in life, Willie found his true best friend Cynthia Hunter and they were blessed to be able to enjoy the last 4 years together even until Willie took his last breath. 

William loved all western movies, as he was a true, bona fide cowboy. Owning spears, chaps, vests, guns, holsters, and hats were all standard dress attire for Willie. Tom Sellick and Denzel Washington were two of his favorite actors.   

Willie is survived by his 89 yr. old mother, Dorothy Morefield, of Sacramento, California, step mother, Janet Morefield, of Danville, Illinois; his children, Marcus (Kim) Coe, of Hoopeston, Illinois, Minister Tabatha (Coach Marcus) Forrest, Tameka (Twayne Lee) Johnson of Danville Illinois, Kevin (Jessica) Burton, and Dominique Morefield, of Terre Haute Indiana. Grandchildren, La’Brea Hutcherson, Te’Von Hutcherson, Amaya Forrest, Camille Forrest, Damon Burnett, McKaylee Allen, Randle Allen, Taylor Hall, Mariah Johnson, Jaiden Johnson, Brandon Coe, Ryan Coe, Marcus Coe Jr, Christian Coe, Robert Coe, Austin Mincey, Jordan Coe, Izabellah Coe, Mckenzie Coe, Kevin Burton Jr, and Brayson Burton. Great Grandchildren, Carmon Hutcherson, Sophia Coe, Leo Coe, Santana Coe, Noah Mincey; three brothers, Claude Morefield, of Sacramento, California, Carlos (Natisha) Morefield of Chicago, Illinois, Bryan (Liliana) Morefield of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Jeanette Morefield, of Sacramento, California,  Aunts; Nacolia Dudley, Rosie Sloan, Angela Clark, Molly Owens, Teresa Jackson. Special Aunts: Esther (Lee) Crawley and Carol Stone. Uncle; John Sloan. His beloved dog, Babygirl.

Willie was preceded in death by his father Claude Morefield Sr, fraternal grandparents; Claude and Lucille Morefield, maternal grandparents, Clifford Sr and Jeanette Sloan;  Son in law, Carmon Hutcherson, Uncles; Clifford Sloan, Tommy Sloan, William Morefield, Jim Morefield, John Morefield, and Walter Morefield; Aunts Peggy Mason, Gladys Grant, and Lilian Hunter.

A private Homegoing Celebration will commence at 12:00 Noon Wednesday March 10,2021 at The Assembly of God 428 N. Walnut St. Danville IL., Eulogist: Ryan A. Harris. A Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow after at Danville National Cemetery

A public viewing will be held on Tuesday March 9,2021 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home 304 E. Williams St., Danville from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm

Due to CDC regulations, attendance restrictions will be enforced.
