October 14, 1928 ~ September 18, 2024 (age 95) 95 Years Old

William Luckey Obituary

William Luckey, 96, of Champaign, transitioned from this life on Wednesday September 18, 2024 at his home at 1210 Crispus Drive where he resided with his son Timmy Redmon.

William, who was affectionately called “Lucky” by all who knew him, was born on October 14, 1928 to Gussie H. Scott and Walter Scott.

Lucky received his education from his life experiences.  Lucky quit school prior to middle school to support his family and became a railroad worker, painter, and construction worker.  Lucky retired from construction after working for over 50 years in the construction trades.
Lucky’s favorite pastime was watching the Chicago Cubs and sharing time with family and friends.  Lucky would often visit the hospitals when he could to cheer up family and friends who had fallen ill.

Lucky leaves to cherish his loving memory his sons Willie Tolier, Timmy Redmon of Champaign, IL and Albert Redmon of Champaign IL; daughter, Kathryn Robinson of Long Beach, California.  Lucky also had four other sons and three other daughters and several grandchildren.

Additionally, Lucky had three sisters Eva McKennie, Nell V. Brown, and Gussie M. Smart(Robert) all of Canton, Mississippi, and one brother, Isiah Harris.

Lucky was married to Dorothy Jordan-Luckey for many years and she preceded him in death.  Lucky’s nephew, Porter L. Battle and his wife Jaqueline Battle were instrumental in helping Lucky with his day-to-day needs.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon  Saturday September 28, 2024 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home 1215 W. Bradley Avw. Urbana. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of service.
