William Lee

William’s life began on August 13, 1984 to Lavonne Overstreet and Albert Like of Chicago, IL.  William was born in Chicago, IL at the University of Illinois Hospital and raised in Chicago for his early childhood.  The family moved to Champaign, IL when William was young.

William attended Westview Elementary School, Jefferson Middle School and Centennial High School.

William was a very happy child.  He loved making people laugh. He was the family’s comedian, and everybody loved him.  You could always count on him for a good laugh.  He enjoyed comedy, movies, cooking and most of all eating.

William had several jobs throughout his life.  His favorite job was at Parkland College with his father. He enjoyed spending time with his kids, sisters, friends, and most of all with his mother.  

William leaves behind his mother, Lavonne Overstreet; father, Albert Like (Vaskia); step-father, Rodger Brown; six sisters, Lorena Greer (Sherman), Tiesha Lee (Willie), Shanetha Lee, Charlene Jones (Charez), Tamika Wesley (Tyvvone), and Aundriana Like; two brothers, Perico Like and Poncho Like; six children, Thania Lee (Brittany B), Amuriah Lee, William Lee, Jr. (Brittany S), Yasmine Kennedy, Samariah Jones, and Quinton Frick;  five step-children, Corazon, Garrett, Carly, Aubrey, and Jayden; two Godchildren, Robert Hardy and Nizeri Carter; Godparents, Lawrence and Renelta Lee; multiple best friends, Cutty, Iresha, Nuk, Matt, BG, Ledarius, Larry Jr., and many more; a host of nieces and nephews; and one great-nephew.

William was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Lorena Lee; maternal grandfather, Elza Hughes, Jr.; his grandfather, Willie Lee; and his paternal grandparents, Albert and Barber Like.
 
A Homegoing Celebration will commence at 12:00 Noon on Friday January 8, 2021 at New Generation Church 1401 W. John St, Champaign. Officiating Pastor Larry Simmons. A Viewing begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow after at Lincoln Cemetery.
