Victoria Elizabeth Rhoden

Victoria Elizabeth Rhoden departed life on December 17, 2024 at home, surrounded by family.

She was born in Waterford, Mississippi on June 21, 1934 to Eddie Mae Walker and Dan E. Jones.

Rivers began high school at Champaign High and relocated and graduated high school at Scott High in Toledo, Ohio.

On January 3, 1953 she married Harral Rhoden in Toledo, Ohio. To their union six children were born and all survive.  Steve Rhoden, Champaign, IL Bridgitte (Keith) Butler, Urbana, IL; Rhonda Rhoden-Angel, Urbana, IL; Zelda (Neil) Williams, Champaign, Harral (Monica) Rhoden Junior, Greensboro, NC; Brenda (Ronnie J.) Rhoden, Champaign.

For many years Rivers was a member of Salem Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. During her marriage she was primarily a home maker. However, in 1978 when she became a widow she started her own business as a child care provider. She loved and became attached to the children and often spoke of them fondly.

She is survived by nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; one sister Sherrie (Bobby) Anderson, Sylvania, Ohio and three brothers, Dan Jones Junior, Wayne Jones and David Jones, all of Toledo, Ohio, and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, one great grandchild and five brothers.

A celebration of life will commence at 12:00 Noon Monday December 23, 2024 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home 1215 W. Bradley Ave. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service.
