Velma McDuffy White was the youngest of 3 children born to Nelson and Lottie McDuffy.
She relocated from Terry, Mississippi to Champaign, Illinois in 1945.
She was United in Matrimony to Willie D. White July 16, 1947. He preceded her in death.
Velma was also preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters Luberta Taylor, Willie Mae Polk, 1 daughter Peggy White, a grandson Jeffrey Lewis and a granddaughter April Lewis.
In 1972, Velma made one of the most important decisions of her life. She was baptized and became a Jehovah Witness. For years she shared her time assisting others and teaching the truth about Jehovah God according to the Bible.
Velma is survived by her loving children Grace Gordon, Barbara (Joe) Taylor, George (Sarah) White, Tina (Vincent) North, grandchildren Vada (Terri) Lewis, Allen (Tracey) Gordon, Jerry Williams, great grandchildren Kashif Lewis, Megan Gordon, Trinity Gordon, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
A memorial service will commence at noon, Friday, August 26, 2022 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home-Urbana. Visitation will begin at 11am until the start of the memorial. Burial will be held at Lincoln Cemetery.
