Ty Garrett Buford was born to Gail R. Buford and Rodric Sexton on September 22, 1986, in Danville, IL.
He attended District 118 schools and completed his GED through Project Success in 2005. He also completed several courses at Danville Area Community College. Ty exceled in track & field and basketball during his K-12 career.
He attended Allen Chapel AME Church during childhood and early adulthood.
Ty believed in community. He was an entrepreneur and a forward thinker. His contributions to his community include Da Jerk Shack and Buford’s Lawn Care Services. Family and friends will miss his charm, quick wit, contagious laughter, and heartwarming hugs.
He Is survived by his father, Rodric Sexton; sisters, Lacey Buford-Lillard of Normal, IL, Otedia Anglin of Antioch, TN, and Talesha (Michael) Sanders of Lima, OH; and special cousin, Jameson Leek of Danville, IL. Ty leaves behind nieces, TaNeilDickerson, Ta’Micha Sanders, Ta’Miah Sanders, Tatum Moody, Terrace Moody; and nephews, Dakota Logan, Michael Sanders II. He will be grieved by a host of aunts & uncles and cousins who loved him dearly.
He was preceded In death and reunited with his mother, Gail R. Buford; sister Tapria Moody; maternal grandparents, Thomas M. and Barbara Buford; uncle Thomas E. Buford; paternal grandparents Theopolis and Etta N. Sexton.
Ty passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025, just shy of his 39th birthday. At the time of his death, Ty resided in Palmetto, Georgia.
A celebration of life will commence at 12:00 Noon October 4, 2025 at New Life Church of Faith 1419 N. Bowman Ave: Eulogist: Apostle Charles Hargrove. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service.
