Tracy Hill- Yates

Tracy Hill-Yates, 54 years young, affectionately known as Cookie, passed away June 4, 2025, in Rantoul, IL with her family by her side.

She was born August 30, 1970 in Memphis, TN to the union of Robert Franklin and Thelma Hill. Tracy was raised and cared for by her stepfather John H. Jackson of Tuscola, IL who preceded her in death, along with one sister, Janet Arnold, grandparents Luther and Nevota Hill, two aunts, Lula B. and Nobie, and one uncle, Willie McKinley. One granddaughter: Jalani Alexander.

Tracy was a quiet child with a fearless and bold spirit. She was educated in Chicago Public School where she attended James Wadsworth Academy of One, Lady Flanman, and Double E.

Beyond her career choice while working as a manager at Eyes Have Not Seen in Chicago, IL, a production worker at Jeld-Wen Windows and Doors in Rantoul, IL, and other positions, Tracy navigated through life doing what she loved.

A woman of various interests and diverse skills. She had a passion for using her hands to bless others… Interior designs, hairstyles, fitness trainer, home repairs and so much more.

Tracy received Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at an early age. She maintained her beliefs and devotion to her faith even in the face of challenges and until her final moments.

Tracy leaves 6 beautiful children behind to Cherish, DERRICK, LAWRENCE, ERICA tashianda , Tameka, TERRY III and a Bonus daughter (Latorya/looey). 18 beautiful grandchildren Dashay, Derrion, Landen, linden, Kam’Ron Erion, Kodi, Noah, laythen, Ny’La, Lawerence Jr., Naomi, Erin, Libby, Aiden, Romance, Nalej. 3 beautiful Great Grandchildren Mar’Jon, Draey, Derrien Jr. 16 beautiful siblings Diane, Kenneth, Angela, Carol, Joseph,(Jerwana), Vickie, Laugh, Mercy, Benjamin, Jonathan, Lillian, Enoch, Precious, John Jr., Ishmel (India),Sandra (Damian), Edwin, and Le’Ray. 3 bonus sisters Shavon (von) Rosetta Knox and Yashminda (me-me) God sister Sanin 3 beautiful best friends Vickie Ervin (sister), Angela Gary and Laterra James. Host of nieces and nephews, Aunties and Uncles, cousins and friends.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday June 13, 2025 at Greater Holy Temple, 1409 W. Dublin St., Urbana. Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon Friday at the church.

Open viewing will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 1215 W. Bradley Ave., Urbana.
