Thelma Loretha Rose Dye, quietly and peacefully, answered God's call to come home from her labor here on earth on March 8, 2020.
Thelma was born on January 2, 1955 in Columbus, Kentucky to Cleo Jeanetta Johnson Rose and William D. Rose, Jr.
Thelma and C.L. Dye, Sr. were married on April 28, 1978, in Danville.
Thelma attended school in Danville. She received a bachelor's degree and master's degree from Eastern Illinois University.
Thelma worked for DCFS for over 20 years, Thelma and C.L. owned several businesses throughout her journey. Thelma was a member of New Life Church of Faith, where she served on the Culinary Committee. Thelma loved her church family. Thelma's ministry was helping people; it was a commitment she was very serious about. One of her greatest accomplishments was being crowned "Little Miss Charm", a pageant sponsored by Laura Lee Fellowship House in the 1960's. Her hobbies included cooking, collecting antiques, attending her grandchildren's sports events and spending time with FAMILY.
Thelma will be missed by her husband C.L. Dye, Sr.; daughter, Marnetta Rohelia Blakely; sons, C.L. Dye, Jr. (Marla), Marvin E. Dye, Anthony Maurice Jones and Damon Beard; 21 Grandchildren and 5 Great-Grandchildren; uncle, Lee O. Rose; Special sister in law, Harvetta F. Rose. Thelma will also be missed dearly by nieces and nephews; best friends Jane Stanford Fontleroy and Betty Hurns Scott; special Cousins: the McKinney, Rose, Johnson and Young families and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents Cleo and Williams Rose Jr., brothers: Marvin E. Rose and Williams D. Rose III., son: Zyrone Petty and best friend Linda Cross.
A Homegoing Celebration will commence at1 12:00 Noon on Saturday March 14, 2020 at New Life Church of Faith 1419 N Bowman Ave., Danville. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will follow after at Springhill Cemetery. A public viewing will be held at Leek & Sons Funeral Home on Friday March 13, 2020 from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm.
