Stanley DeWayne Porter Sr., 61, of Indianapolis, IN, formerly of Danville, IL, passed this life on April 30, 2026, at Community East Hospital at 1:53 p.m.

Stanley was born on November 1, 1964, in Danville, Illinois to Carrie Betty Porter and D.C. Keys. He attended Danville schools and received his High School Equivalency. Stanley enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the New Jerusalem Church of Jesus Christ. He also attended New Life Church of Faith with his mother at times before her passing. He was a former employee of Freight Car of America. He enjoyed listening to music, watching football, basketball, cooking, playing cards, and dominoes. Stanley was a good person who had a big heart. Stanley leaves to cherish his memory: Daughters: Tiffani Sanders, Jo Anna (Leron) (Miles)Sabbath, and Ne’Asha Porter; Sons: Shannon Walls, Quinton Walker, Donald Sanders, and Stanley (Lateasha) Porter Jr. ; Grandsons: Ja’Dontae, R’Shaun, Jah’Mier, Allante’, Kameron, Shannon, and Syair; Granddaughters: Brianna, La’Ryiah, and Maliyah,; Great-grandson: Jai’Ontai; His longtime love: (“My wife”) in his voice : Leetha Brown; Sisters: Betty Ann Smith, Pamela Dennis, Stacey (Shawn) Chattman, Vickie (Randy) Wesley, Brenda (Leslie) Fisher, and Karen (Terry) Forman; Brothers: Leo (Marla) Porter, Bobby (Rose) Keys, and Truman (Carolyn) Keys, and a host of nieces and nephews. Stanley loved all his family the same but had a Special niece (his daughter) Kim-Neshe Porter; Bonus sons: Awine, Kenny, James King, and Victor Lee; Best Friends: (his brothers) Tony (Tone)Thompson and Anthony (Roach) Brigham. He was preceded by his parents, one son: Joshua Porter, four granddaughters: D’Nija Parker, Te’yera Parker, Ca’Siaya Walker, and Ay’ Roniah Worthington. Three sisters: Patricia Porter-Glover, Joyce Wilkerson, Henrietta Bryant, and six brothers: Vernon, Robert, and Kenneth Porter, Junior Lee, Dee Willie, and Jimmy Keys.

Stanley’s motto was “Live the Life you Love and Love the Life you Live.” And he did just that. He became friends with nearly everyone he encountered. He will be truly missed.

A Homegoing Celebration will commence at 12:00 Noon Saturday May 9, 2026 at New Jerusalem Church of Jesus Christ, 1033 N. Walnut St. Danville. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Eulogist: Minister Lamar Coleman. Interment will be at Sanhill Memorial Park.
