Stanley Crawford Obituary

Stanley Crawford, 71, of Danville, Illinois, left this earthly life on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, in his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on September 23, 1951, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Mattie and John Crawford. He married Carol Moten on December 8, 2005.

Stanley graduated from Danville High School in Danville, IL, joined the United States Air Force, on September 27, 1971, and was honorably discharged in 1974. He then joined the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1988. He worked in Danville, IL, for over 30 years at Tridan International, the Department of Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care Center, and Walmart Supercenter.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Carol Moten-Crawford, whom he truly loved and cared for during her illness. He leaves his three sons, Damon (Lakisha), Darryl (Miranda), and Stevie. One very dear sibling, sister JoAnn Relliford of Danville, IL; two uncles, Robin and Clarence Robertson of West Memphis, AR; three aunts, Evelyn Whetstone, Ann Robertson and Cornelia Robinson; several grandchildren, two stepdaughters, Kishauna and Denise. Denise was an exceptional help to him and his wife during his illness and is greatly appreciated. He also leaves behind one nephew, Jeremy, one niece Richelle, two great nephews, two great nieces, many cousins, one very special cousin, Jacque (William) Henson of Danville, and a host of friends and family.

Stanley was preceded in death by his mother, Mattie Fletcher, father, John Crawford, and daughter Shaybrial.

Stanley loved listening to Old School Music, dressing in his 70’s clothing, fishing with friends and family, repairing cars, rebuilding computers, going to rummage sales, rescuing and caring for cats, and cooking his own special concoctions.

There are no words to convey the loss and void he leaves behind. His loving kindness, humor, helpfulness, and happy spirit will truly be missed by everyone whose life he touched. May God continue to bless and keep him on his final journey.
