Shirley Pritchett Obituary

Shirley Ann Pritchett was born on June 26, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Andrew and Gertrude Williams. She peacefully departed this life on May 17, 2025, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Champaign, Illinois, following health complications.

A devoted member of the Church of the Almighty God in Danville, Illinois, under the leadership of Bishop Cleveland Taylor, Sister Shirley faithfully served in ministry and left behind a legacy marked by love, service, and unwavering faith.

Shirley lived a life of simplicity and grace, cherishing every moment with her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended church family. She found joy in serving others, spending time in fellowship, cooking, shopping with close friends Sister Jean and Sister Rita, and giving generously—especially to her beloved grandchildren. Known for her infectious spirit, she often referred to her companions affectionately as her "ace coon boon," a reflection of her close-knit relationships.

Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. She was deeply protective, endlessly supportive, and always generous—often saying, “Don’t tell me how to spend money on my grandkids.” She considered being a grandmother one of the greatest blessings in her life and found immense joy in celebrating holidays, especially Christmas, which she viewed as a season of giving.

Throughout her life, Shirley demonstrated a heart for service. She dedicated time to supporting the homeless and visiting nursing homes, always offering kindness and compassion, even to strangers. Her humility and generosity were a testament to her character and faith.

Shirley’s spiritual journey was the cornerstone of her life. She first encountered the transformative love of God at the Way of Truth Church in Chicago, Illinois. This encounter changed the course of her life, helping her overcome personal challenges, including addiction and childhood trauma. She later became a member of Holy Victory Church and, upon relocating to Danville, joined the Church of the Almighty God, where she served faithfully until her passing.

A committed missionary, Shirley used her gifts to uplift and serve her church community. Whether selling dinners and candy to support ministry efforts or offering words of encouragement, she exemplified the fruits of the Spirit in her daily walk. Her light touched many, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her loving husband, McWestley Jones, and her cherished children: Jasmine Williams-Dillon, Anthony Williams, Jacob Williams, and Jameka Williams. She also leaves behind her adored grandchildren: Leah, Israel, Jesse, Nathan, Larkin, Noah, Amari, Isaac, Amore, Josiah, Micah, and Milan. Additionally, she is survived by her dear sisters-in-law, Norma Jean and Rita Buckley, brother-in-law Alton Jones, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Shirley Ann Pritchett lived a life of faith, service, and unconditional love. Her legacy will continue to inspire and uplift those she leaves behind.

A celebration of life will commence at 12:00 Noon Saturday May 31, 2025 at Tabernacle of Praise Church, 610 N. Robinson St. Danville. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Eulogist: Bishop Cleveland Taylor. Interment: Spring Hill Cemetery.
