Our beloved Sheila D. Richardson began her earthly journey on Tuesday, February 19, 1957 in Champaign, Illinois to the union of Eugene and Margaret Douglas Jones.
Sheila grew up in Champaign, IL and attended Central High School. She then worked various jobs as a seamstress before moving to Indiana where she met her late husband Lonnie Richardson. Sheila and Lonnie made their way back home to Urbana, IL and there she discovered her passion as a child care provider where she worked many years at “bundles of Joy” until she opened and began operating her own home day care “A Place to Grow”.
Sheila had a vibrant personality and a love of God, family, and friends. Most of all she lived for her kids and not just those of blood relation, but any child that she encountered quickly became an extension of her family. She brought a little brightness to any life that she touched. Sheila had many hobbies but her favorites included shopping, socializing, sewing, fishing, living life and napping with her grand dog Vanasha. One of Sheila’s passions that she would do without question was to give to others. Sheila could not give enough of herself, if anyone around her was in need and she could help she certainly did.
Sheila’s earthly journey ended peacefully after a battle with cancer during the evening hours on Thursday, October 15, 2020 in her new residence in Indianapolis, Indiana with her daughter and son in law at her side.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories 2 children, Tomika (Larry) Gatson and M’shan Williams; 5 siblings, Debra Jones, Anthony (Rochelle) Jones, Sherry Woedl, Shaun Jones and Shannon Jones; 3 grandchildren, Tyshaura Blackwell, Jetaun Williams, Mshane Keeler; 1 great grandchild Eyshoun Powell and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
