Shawnita Williams Obituary

Shawnita Lakendra Brenae Williams peacefully departed this life on Thursday, June 5, 2025.

Born on February 2, 1997, in Champaign, Illinois, Shawnita was the beloved daughter of Terrelle Williams and Lavonda Miles. Affectionately known by her family and friends as "Took-G" or "Tooky," she was the eldest of nine children and a natural leader among her siblings. She received her education through the Urbana Public School system in Urbana, Illinois.

Tooky was deeply loved by many. She had a warm spirit and a joyful energy that touched everyone she encountered. She found joy in dancing and spending quality time with her family—especially her daughter, siblings, and those closest to her. One of her passions was writing, and she had begun working on a book that, although unfinished, reflected her creativity and drive. Tooky also cherished her daily phone calls with her brothers and sisters, staying connected and supportive in every way she could. Her faith was a source of strength, and she especially enjoyed being part of her grandfather Theodore Parker’s prayer group, where she found comfort and inspiration.

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughter, Chaniyah Williams of Danville, Illinois; five sisters: Gwendolyn, Laniyah, and Littiea Campbell of Danville, Illinois; Jayda Pea-Cock-Williams of Champaign, Illinois; and Terriah Williams of Atlanta, Georgia. She is also survived by four brothers: Erictvontae Crockett and Kamarion Miles of Danville, Illinois; Tyrese Williams and Jaylun Pea-Cock-Williams of Champaign, Illinois. Shawnita’s memory will also be held dear by her grandparents Valerie Miles of Danville, Illinois; Sherece Williams of Champaign, Illinois; Theodore and Elaine Parker of Bartow, Florida; and Elders E.V. and Audrey Davis Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia. Great grandparents; Carolyn Parker of Bartow , Florida and Lela Wilson of Champaign.  She also leaves behind her special cousin and namesake, Shawnita Stone, and a devoted friend, Michael Tolliver.

Tooky was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandparents, Eddie and Littie Miles, Thomas Parker and E.V. Davis Sr., special uncle Eric T. Miles and a step brother, Dashon Campbell.

Shawnita’s life, though brief, was filled with love, laughter, and a profound impact on those who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her daughter, family, and friends who will miss her dearly but remember her with love and gratitude.
