Seve Bomani-Changamire Day, born Andre Clement Day, 51, passed peacefully with his family by his bedside on April 8, 2022. Seve was born in Detroit, MI on August 12, 1970 to the late Jesse Clement Day and Shirley Studavent.
Seve enjoyed life and loved his family; especially his 5 children. He was a devout sports fan of everything MICHIGAN; Hockey, Football, Basketball, and Baseball and it was this love and knowledge of sports that he introduced his children to that would benefit them greatly throughout their lives. Although he was an active sports fan he was also very active academically. He pushed for higher education and mentored not only his children but ANY young adult he got in contact with. He had a magnetic personality and if you were ever in his presence, he was going to crack a joke, make you smile and push you to be the best you can be. Over the past 11 years Seve has struggled with his health but his positive outlook on life is what kept him pushing forward and overcoming every adversity placed in his way.
Seve attended Mackenzie High School class of 1988 at Detroit public schools in his formative years, later attending Southern University in Louisiana before departing for the military. After he would have soon completed an array of certifications and degrees at Danville Area Community College and eventually completing his formal education at Eastern Illinois University. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc, Sigma Xi Chapter, a mentor, teacher, coach and leader to many.
Seve married Carmen Bolden in 1992 and from that union they had 5 amazing children; Dacara Bolden, D’Andre Day, Seve Day, Jelani Day and Zena Day. Losing Jelani tragically 7 months ago was something that Seve never really recovered from so now that they are now reunited in heaven brings us just a bit of comfort.
Seve was preceded in death by his son Jelani, his father, his mother and his stepmother.
Omega Psi Phi memorial service will begin at 10 a.m.
A Homegoing Celebration will commence at 12:00 Noon on Saturday April 16, 2022 at Saint Synagogue Church of God In Christ 2605 E. Main St., Danville. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of service. Burial will be held on Monday April 18, 2022 at Danville National.
