Obituary

Serie "Cy" Carter 96 of Champaign transitioned from this life at Carle Foundation Hospital on September 29, 2020. Serie was born September 14, 1924 in Bolton, Mississippi to Percy and Eunice (Brown) Carter. Serie was a member of the United States Army and served in World War II.  He worked for the Ford Dealership and Kemper Industrial Equipment for many years.  Serie enjoyed working on vehicles and gardening with his brother Robert Carter.  

He married Ada Marie Jones on May 11, 1950 in Urbana, IL. They took residence in Champaign were they fostered many children. 


Serie Carter leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Joe (Renea) Carter of Fisher, IL and Brian Carter of Champaign, two brothers Robert (Dorothy) Carter of Urbana and Charlie (Frankie) Carter of Killen, Texas; three sisters Iona C. Veal, Bernice Pennington and Mary (Willie) Simmons all of Jackson, Mississippi.  Four grandsons Brian, Antonio, Korey and Terrelle; four granddaughters Kiarra, Maiyann, Ashiya, and Jarai Carter all of Champaign and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Serie was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers Noah Carter and John Carter, sister Dora Stewart and a daughter Delores "Dee" Young.  

A visitation will commence from 11am-12noon, Wednesday,  October 7, 2020 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home 1215 West Bradley Ave., Urbana. A graveside service will immediately follow at Lincoln Cemetery, Urbana, IL.   
 

Due to CDC regulations, restrictions will be enforced.
