Roy Garzel Withers, 77, of Danville, Illinois, gracefully transitioned from this life on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Home. He was born on January 27, 1947, to his loving mother, Hestaline (Thompson) Withers and Julius Jackson Withers.
Roy graduated from Danville High School. After high school, Roy joined the Army. He served his country with honor and distinction during the Vietnam War and received several medals. He was Honorably Discharged.
Roy volunteered for Danville Housing Authority, positively impacting the lives of those around him by mentoring children. He was very active with the Community Reach Programs.
He was a long-time member of Carter Metropolitan CME Church where he was very active with the Community Outreach, Men’s Choir, and Deacon Board.
Roy worked for the Veterans Administration (VA) until he retired.
Roy was one of a kind and will be missed by all who knew him. He leaves to cherish his memory, his family, friends, and loved ones.
He leaves to cherish his memory his sons; Marty (Lakesha) Withers, Courtney Withers. Grandchildren: Angel, Johnny, Tiara, Byron, his brother Larry Withers and a host of family and friends.
