Roger Norris Gill Sr. (Beav) was born in Humboldt,TN. On August 7,1954. To Dorris Gill and Oscar Beard. He was the sibling of four, leaving behind three sisters: Keither Gill, Rose(Joe) Young, Lisa Gill and one brother Martines Gill.
Roger was united in holy matrimony to Bonnie L.King on July 13,1977. Unto this union was born, Walidah(Robert) Gill-Harris, Rahsima Gill, A-kie(Tamike) Gill, Ivy Gill, and Eunice Gill. He was also the father of Roger(Sherrie) Crosby, Rodreckus Bell, Mario(Tiffany) Crosby, Maurice King, Kenny Brown, Lindsey Turner, Jabez Gill,and Roddrell Gill.
Roger was a man of strong faith in Jesus Christ. He was always willing and ready to spread the word of God. Roger was also a loving father, brother and friend. He also enjoyed watching sports especially basketball and football. Roger was very charismatic,he had a smile that would light up any room that he entered. Roger loved spending time with his family while enjoying a good meal (especially sweets),and "talking stuff" Roger Norris Gill Sr. was a "Do-wop". Roger spent a portion of his working career with the University of IL.and Parkland College.
He was proceeded in death by his loving wife Bonnie L. Gill.,a loving mother Doris E.Dunn and his father's Oscar Beard and Alfred Dunn, a brother Ricky D Gill, one sister Leslie Gill, two nieces, one grandson Nsoah, grandparents, two uncles and one aunt ,three great uncles and four great aunts.
He leaves to mourn his memory a special aunt ,Ethel Mae Johnson.a special companion, Rosie Slaughter, a host of nieces,nephews and friends,and also very bestfriend Rev.Willie Jones. Roger has fifty three, grandchildren and eight, great grandchildren.
A Homegoing Celebration will commence at 1:00 pm Friday June 26, 2020 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 1215 W. Bradley Ave., Urbana .Evangelist Walidah Gill Harris will officiate A visitation will be held on Thursday June 25, 2020 from 3pm to 5 pm at Leek & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery, Champaign.
