Robert Lee Cross

Robert Lee Cross 73, of Danville passed away peacefully at 6:00 a.m. February 5, 2020 at Danville Care Center.

Robert was born on June 28, 1946 to the union of Willie and Inez Stewart Cross.  He was the oldest of six children.  Robert married Edna Coleman Cross of Danville and they have shared over thirty years together.

Robert attended Danville grade schools and graduated from Danville High School.  He was employed at Hyster for 40 years.  He was a member of the Elks Lodge #147.  He held several positions as well as receiving honors as Past State President from the Illinois-Wisconsin State Association.

Robert loved to travel, work in his garden, shopping, dressing, barbecuing, and spending time with his family and friends.

Robert leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, four daughters; Kimberly Cross of Jacksonville FL., Jennaya Cross of Westville IL., Mrs. Valerie (Bishop John) Fonzer of Moss Point MS. and Rhonda January of Chicago IL., Two sons; Damon (Angelia) Cross of Decatur, IL., and Akeia (Sonya) Stewart of Rantoul IL., One sister; Joanne Young of Danville,  three sister in laws: Phyllis Parker, Deloris (James) Withcher and Glenda Coleman, three brother in laws: Albert (Debra) Coleman, Lee Thomas (Pamela) Coleman, James (Alice) Coleman, 20 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, a special grand-daughter; Kamryn Wright AKA (The Little Baby), and special friends; Albert Coleman, Eddie Pascal and Tom Goings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, one son; Robert January, 3 brothers; Charles, Richard and Larry Cross Sr. and one sister; Linda Poke.

A homegoing celebration will commence at 11:00 a.m. Saturday February 15, 2020 at New Life Church of Faith 1419 N. Bowman Street, Danville.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m.  until time of service.  Officiating: Pastor Tommie Reed. Internment: Springhill Cemetery.
