Rickey Lee Watson transitioned from time into Eternity on August 11, 2021 at his home. Rickey was born February 1, 1957 in West Memphis, Arkansas to Glennie and Tureather Davis Watson. 

Rickey was baptized at an early age and continued to faithfully serve God. His love for God, his family and everyone else showed through his works. He was an amazing caregiver for his mother, aunts, cousins and so many others.

Rickey was a graduate of Danville High School and attended Danville Area Community College. Rickey was an avid sports fan and record breaking player for DACC. He was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. He was employed for over 30 years at Lauhoff/Bunge Grain Co.

Rickey loved to travel with his wife. His other hobbies were cooking and riding his motorcycle. He and Lynn are known for their generous hearts by helping and feeding the entire community.

Rickey leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife and soul mate of 43 years, Teresa Lynn Boards-Watson. His daughter, Latasha Johnson, granddaughter Chanelle Miles both of Defiance OH. His mother Tureather Watson of Danville. Four brothers; Glennie (Melissa) Watson II, Raymond (Ora) Watson and Hoey (Nancy) Watson all of Danville. Joseph (Donja’e) Watson of Chicago. Four sisters; Annette (Gary) Ross and Tureather (Scott) Hood of Decatur, Ella Mary (Laurence) Morris of Stone Mountain GA. and Melinda (Lenard) Monroe of Gary IN. Two brother in-laws, Robert (Toni) Boards and William Boards both of Danville. Sister in-laws; Kay (Jeff) Chapman of Stockbridge, GA, Karen Pendleton of Danville and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, cousins and other family members. Rickey had several special friends and you know who you are.

Rickey was preceded in death by his father Glennie Watson Sr., a brother Timmie Lee Watson, step-mother `Everlena Watson, mother in-law Gladys Boards, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A Homegoing Celebration will commence at 11:00 a.m. Saturday August 21, 2021 at New Life Church of Faith, 1419 N. Bowman Ave. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Eulogist: Rev. Mac Arthur Pendleton. Interment will be at Spring Hill Cemetery. Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St. in charge of arrangements.
