Reynear Abernathy

Reynear Abernathy was born on August 11, 1965 in Champaign, Illinois to parents Robert and Addie Abernathy. He deeply loved his family and friends. Reynear had a way of making every moment feel better. What we will miss most about him is his bright smile, his sense of humor, and his laughter.

Reynear spent his last days thriving in Arcadia Nursing Home, living his life as free as he could with the love of his life, Gail Thorpe. They spent most of their time together as much as they could. Reynear just wanted to live his life as peaceful as possible. He will truly be missed for his energy, love, and his spirit.

He leaves behind his mother; Addie Abernathy, his sisters; Rochelle LeShoure and Icesha Abernathy, his three children; Ayanna Johnson, Sheyneara Abernathy, and Reynear Calvin Abernathy Jr., and his grandchildren, Arianna Grayson, A’Ryiah Grayson, Arhbree Grayson, and Aadieon Grayson.

He also leaves behind many other loved ones. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Abernathy, and his grandmother, Annie Mae Brown.

He will be missed.

Services will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, April 25 at Leek and Sons Funeral Home 1215 W. Bradley Ave Urbana. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am.
