Rasheedah "Sheda" Gaines

Our beloved Rasheedah Gaines, affectionately known as “Sheda”, was born on April 11, 1983 to Linda Gaines and Glen Wilkins.  She left this earthly journey on February 21, 2021.

Rasheedah accepted Christ at an early age.  She always kept her faith in God. Rasheedah received her education through the Champaign Unit #4 schools.  She was a graduate of Champaign Central High School.  Rasheedah was a dedicated medical transporter at Provena Medical Center, along with taking care of residents at a long-term care facility located at Carle Clinic.

Rasheedah as a loving mother to her two daughters:  Makiala Smith and Sierra Gaines.  She loved her children dearly.  Those beautiful young ladies were the “apple of her eye”.  She held their hands all these years, and holds their hearts for a lifetime.  A mother’s love never ends.

Rasheedah was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, and friend.  Her smile was contagious to everyone she met.  She had a giving heart, and would help anyone in need.

Rasheedah will remain forever precious and loved in the hearts of all who knew her.  She leaves to cherish her loving memories to:  two daughters, Makiala Smith and Sierra Gaines; her mother, Linda Gaines; her dad, Glen Wilkins; her brother, Mico Gaines; her sisters, Atarri Gaines and Lashaunce (Earnest) Gaines; one aunt, Helen Gaines; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.  She had a love for listening to all types of music, especially R & B and gospel.

Rasheedah was preceded by her maternal grandmother, Bernice Gaines; paternal grandfather, Fayvernon Loving; paternal grandmother, Marie Victory.; one aunt, Marie Victory; three uncles, Gene Gaines, Mike and Anthony Victory.   

She will forever remain in our hearts.

A private Celebration of Life will commence at 12:00 Noon Saturday March 6, 2021 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 1215 W. Bradley Ave., Urbana. Officiating Pastor Leo Davis. A visitation will begin at 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow after at East Lawn Burial Park, Urbana.

A public viewing will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday March 5, 2021 at the funeral home.
