Pinkie Duckworth Obituary

Pinkie Lee Duckworth at the age 80 transition from life to a deep sleep at 12:43pm on August 14, 2022 at Carle Hospital with her son Melvin and daughter Sharon with her. Our mother loved our Heavenly Father and one day he will awaken her from sleep. Pinkie Lee Keys-Duckworth was born July 29, 1942 in Bay Spring, MS to the late Hurk and Pinkie Keys. Pinkie was the loving wife of the late Cloanger Duckworth for 64 years. Pinkie worked for Peterson Puritan (now called CCL) for 25 years before retirement.

Momma loved cooking and taught her daughters everything about cooking. Momma would cook every wild game Daddy bought home. If she didn’t know how to clean the wild game Daddy would teach her. But when it was time to prepare the meal Momma didn’t need  anyone's help. She would fry goat meat that was so tender you could cut it with a fork. Daddy would
bring home wild greens and Momma would get busy in the kitchen. Sometimes us daughters would get embarrassed because Daddy would go get a 100 live chickens and we have an assembly line dressing chickens. In the kitchen to put the finishing touch on the chickens was our dear Momma. When we got done it was time for good eating and laughing around the dining room table. On Sunday’s Momma would cook dinner and we all would gather with our children. Momma never said bring a side dish she always had enough food for everyone. She made the best sweet tea with fresh lemons. Momma chicken and dumplings was homemade, no self rising flour. Believe it or not a lot of people have never had homemade chicken and dumplings. But chicken-n-dumplings was regular on Sunday menu.

Sometimes when we get together our kids would say none of Granny daughters can throw down like her. When it was just a few grandkids we all would go to Momma and Daddy for Thanksgiving Day to eat. Again Momma would not have us to bring nothing but our appetite.

Momma will truly be missed by her loving children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and friends.
