Phillip Lavon Shaw 80, passed this life on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at OSF in Danville. He was born and raised in Danville, ll., the son of Emmett E. and Helen Shaw. Phillip was married for 57 years to the love of his life his wife Janyce Y. Shaw. He was a residence of Danville and a member of the New Life Church of Faith. He retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. He served a tour in the Air Force. Phillip loved fishing, cars, animal programs, playing solitaire and going to his grandkids sporting events. He also loved family get togethers and traveling; he had been to every state except one. He always had good stories to tell.
Phillip will truly be missed by his loving wife; a son Phillip L. (Sherri) Shaw Jr., two daughters; Joda (Don) Potts, and Monique Dandridge. Six grandchildren; Janese Potts, (Johnathan Sorter), Phillip (Yolonda) Shaw III, Don Potts, Candace Potts, Ryan Shaw and Jovon Shaw. Great grandchildren; Layla Potts, Phillip Shaw IV, Jurnee Shorter, Jonathan Shorter, Yariah Shaw, Justyce Shorter and Don Potts III, and many other relatives and friends.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Eugene E. Shaw, Sisters; Emma L. Carruthers, Pearl M. Bronaugh and Jacqueline Woodson.
A Private Homegoing Service that will be live streamed via Facebook will commence at 11:00 a.m Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home. Officiating: Pastor Thomas Miller. Viewing will be from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2020 at the funeral home.
DUE to COVID 19 regulations ALL family members and friends who plan to attend VIEWING are REQUIRED to practice extreme precaution by wearing protective mask, gloves and practicing social distancing. Please be considerate of others, as only ten people will be allowed inside the funeral Home at a time. There will be a private burial immediately following at Spring Hill Cemetery.
