Percy was born February 7, 1963 in Urbana, Illinois to Percy Harvey Sr. and Johnnie Mae Harvey. He was the second born of three to this Union.
Percy attended Urbana and Champaign schools and graduated from Champaign Central High School. Percy accepted Christ at an young age and was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a trustee, landscaper,cook, and male chorus. Percy later joined Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Ministry, Culinary Ministry, and Male Chorus.
Percy was a Jack of all trades, but a Master of none. You could call Percy for anything he was right there whether it was grilling, lawn care, driving, moving, painting, or even babysitting just to name a few. There was nothing Percy wouldn’t do. He was a genuine good person. He was always caring for his family and friends. Percy worked as a cook for over 40 years in various places and in different states. He loved to show off his cooking skills and share his knowledge with others. Cooking andspending quality time with his family and friends was what he loved to do.
He leaves to cherish behind his mother Johnnie Mae Harvey of Urbana, IL; three sisters Pearlie Mae Harvey(Eugene) of Champaign, IL; Tracie Crider-Dotson(Ernest) of Jackson, MS; Knicole Brown of Tilton, IL; and two brothers Dennis (Crystal)Bigham of Champaign, IL; Carlos (Sandra) Harvey of Urbana, IL. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including lifelong friends Boys Club for Life.
He was preceded in death by his father Percy Harvey Sr. and grandparents.
A Celebration of Life will commence at 12PM, Friday, March 11, at Pilgrim Baptist Church, Champaign. Visitation will begin at 11AM until the start of the service. Officiating Pastor Rickey E. Parks.
A public viewing will commence from 3-6PM, Thursday, March 10 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home- Urbana.
