Patricia Ligggins Obituary

Patricia Ann Liggins respectively known as Ms. Patty was born September 25, 1938, in Danville, IL to Joseph Dent and Burnhilda Bell. Mrs. Burnhilda Bell later married Charles Randall Willis who then raised her as his own. Ms. Patty’s education began at Garfield Elementary School; she then went on to graduate from Danville High School.

Ms. Patty found love with Tilton Liggins on February 22, 1968. This union created what would be the many special pieces of her heart. Ms. Patty accepted Christ into her life and began serving the Lord’s people. She dedicated most of her time to serving the Lord and Ushering at Mason Temple Church of God in Christ. Ms. Patty worked diligently and faithfully at Mason Temple Church of God in Christ. She was the head usher, worked in the kitchen, and was the church secretary. For many years she dedicated her works to Fifth Illinois Jurisdiction West where she obtained the accolades of the Head State President and served on the National Usher board. Due to her faithful service, Ms. Patty received a national award for Usher of the Year. She also trained many ushers in the State of Illinois. They came from many states all around to be trained by one of the best. Ms. Patty was often called to usher at a funeral in the City of Danville. She was always there for the community if she was needed or not.

Ms. Patty began her working career at General Electric. Soon after, she made a career change to the Danville VA. After much dedication, she retired after 20-plus years of hard labor. Not being able to sit still, Ms. Patty began working for District #118 as a food service worker and bus transportation specialist.

Never meeting a stranger Ms. Patty could be known as a celebrity of the Midwest. Always fashionable in her hats, sharp suits, and big pretty flower accents, Ms. Patty was at every community event. Whether it be a basketball or football game, she would be there cheering on the home team. Never did she miss an opportunity with her family and friends to celebrate.

Ms. Patty enjoyed playing bidwiz, tonk, spades, and putting together puzzles. She loved to show her love for people through their stomachs. With her many delicious dishes, it was her rolls, Sock It To Me cake, and Jell-O molds that really made you feel the love.

Ms. Patty leaves to cherish her memory her children, Ronald Pryor (Debbie) of Arkansas, Norman Anglin (Trojanette) of Danville, Derrick Anglin of California, Lavonda “Renee” Anglin of Danville, Jerry Anglin of Springfield, Tilnetta Perkins of Danville, Tilton Liggins (Lynn) of South Carolina, Terrance Liggins of Danville, and Timothy Lyles (Jennifer) of Tennessee; two sisters, Carolyn Flowers (Danny) of Indianapolis and Jacqueline Montgomery of Milwaukee; 36 grandchildren; a posse’ of great-grandchildren; two surrogate daughters whom affectionately called her Madre’ (mother in Spanish), Donna Townsend of Bolingbrook and Sandra Wilson of Indianapolis; longtime friend, Edna Cross; her caretaker (a special thanks), Mrs. Foreman; and her dedicated drivers who eagerly transported her up and down the highway, Tim Dixon and Roy Cummings.
