Orlando Karl Perkins Sr., respectfully known as “Perk” was born February 4, 1970 in Flint Michigan to Burton Perkins and Jean Lee Jackson. Orlando attended Danville High School and obtained his CDLs. He enjoyed driving semi trucks and traveling the world. He had a passion for boxing. He competed in the Golden Gloves boxing tournament in Grand Rapids Michigan. He found great joy in training his sons and had the pleasure to train his son Tyler who became a professional boxer.
Orlando met Kaye Dozier Perkins whom he married and created precious moments. Orlando and Kaye went their separate ways but remain as friends. He had an endearing bond with his first wife Tilnetta Perkins. Together, they would strategize game plans to tag team when it came to raising their three boys;Orlando Karl Jr., Kendall Kapatrick and Tyler William Perkins.
Orlando had a smile that could brighten any room. He was kind, compassionate, affectionate, a protector, a provider, and a gentle giant. He was assertive, direct, and he meant what he said and he said what he meant. He enjoyed cooking (grill master), spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, boxing, watching sports, playing cards, and most importantly creating memories with his family.
Orlando leaves to cherish his memory with his children: Obrien Sanders and Kamri Coe of Indianapolis IND., Orlando Perkins Jr.,Kendall Perkins, and Tyler Perkins of Danville IL.. Grandchildren; Marquan, London, Isaiah, Mykia and ZaNea Perkins of Danville IL.. He was proceeded in death by his parents; Burton Perkins and Jean Lee Jackson, 3 brothers; Lamont Perkins, Burton Perkins, and Vincent Brigham; and a son, DeMarcus Cotton.
A Celebration of Life commence at 12:00 Noon Friday April 14, 2023 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home 304 E. Williams St., Danville. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am until the time of the service.
