Obituary

ORA LEE AGE 87, TRANSITION TO HER HEAVENLY HOME ON FRIDAY MAY 20, 2022 AT HOME SURROUNDED by FAMILY. 

 

SHE WAS BORN AUGUST 2, 1934 TO THE LATE WILLIE (KID) JR AND SADIE WILLIAMS IN CATAHONIA, PARIS. 

 

SHE WAS THE ELDEST AND ONLY DAUGHTER OF 6 CHILDREN. WHOM ONE PRECEDE HER IN DEATH. SHE CONFESSED HER LIFE TO CHRIST AT A EARLY AGE, IN SICILY ISLAND, LOUISIANA. 

 

ORA LEE, ATTENDED SCHOOLS IN LOUISIANA AT HER EARLY AGE….

     

 ORA LEE, MARRIED THE LATE WILLIE MARTIN IN 1946. TOGETHER THEY HAD 10 CHILDREN. In 1957 SHE MOVED TO CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SHE BECAME A MEMBER OF HOPEWELL MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH.  IN 1966 WHICH SHE SERVED SEVERAL MISSIONARY DUTIES.  UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF THE LATE REV. J.W. PHILLIPS. 

 

IN THE MIDDLE 60’S SHE MARRIED THE LATE DONNELL WILLIAMS. SHE BECAME A EASTERN STAR IN THE LATE 70’S. SHE WORKED AT SEVERAL JOBS IN CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SHE STARTED WORKING AT THE PARKING GARAGE IN THE 70’S UNTIL 1992. 

 

SHE LATER MARRIED THE LATE ANDREW POWELL THAT SAME YEAR AND MOVED BACK TO SICILY ISLAND, LOUISIANA. WHICH SHE WAS THE FIRST LADY OF NEW SALEM CHURCH OF GOD IN SICILY ISLAND, LOUISIANA. SHE WORKED A FEW JOBS IN LOUISIANA. UNTIL SHE RETIRED IN THE EARLY 2000. 

 

     ORA LEE, WAS A GOD FEARING WOMAN. HER LOVE FOR GOD WAS INVINCIBLE… SHE COULD LISTEN TO GOSPEL MUSIC ALL DAY LONG. PRAISE AND WORSHIP WAS IN HER ALWAYS…SHE LOVED HER MISSIONARY DUTIES…

 

YOU COULD COUNT ON HER WHENEVER SHE WAS NEEDED. SHE LOVED EVERYONE (ESPECIALLY HER FAMILY) NO ONE WAS A STRANGER TO HER. SHE ADOPTED ANYONE (EVEN CATS) THAT NEEDED A HOME AND FAMILY. SHE TOUCHED EVERYONES HEARTS THAT CAME INTO HER PRESENTS. SHE WAS A JOY TO BE AROUND. THERE WAS ALWAYS A CROWD WHEN SHE WAS PRESENT…SHE WAS THE SWEETEST PERSON YOU COULD EVER MEET. A VERY SOFT SPOKEN BUT FEISTY IF SHE NEEDED TO BE. TAKING CARE OF OTHERS WAS HER SPECIALTY. SHE LOVED BEING THERE FOR EVERYONE AND SPENDING TIME WITH HER FAMILY…HER PERSONALITY WAS ANGELISTIC. HER SPIRIT WAS LIKE AN ANGEL. SHE WAS THE MATRIARCH OF HER FAMILY.  JUST FROM HER LIFE ALONE, THERE WERE MULTIPLE LIVES CREATED. SHE HAS A VERY LARGE FAMILY AND EVERYONE LOVES HER. SHE WAS KNOWN FOR HAVING SUCH A BEAUTIFUL PERSONALITY, SOUL AND LOVING THE LORD, BEING EVERYONE’S MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER, SISTER, AUNTIE, COUSIN AND FRIEND. A HARD WORKER IS WHAT SHE WAS WHEN SHE RETIRED, SHE FOUND SOMETHING TO DO, AND SHE LOVED TALKING WITH EVERYONE NO MATTER WHAT TIME IT WAS. COOKING WAS ONE OF HER SPECIALTIES AS WELL.

 

THERE’S A HUGE VOID FOR HER IN OUR HEARTS. WE LOVE AND MISS YOU OUR ANGEL. SLEEP WELL IN PARADISE BEAUTIFUL. HER DEMISE LEAVES THE FAMILY DEVOID OF AN IRREPLACABLE INDIVIDUAL.

 

       ORA LEE, LEAVES TO CHERISH HER MEMORY, (6)CHILDREN, EZRA CHARLES MARTIN (SANDRA) OF COLORADO,  ALETHEA (NEHI) MARTIN OF DANVILLE, ILLINOIS,  KENNETH (BEAR) MARTIN OF HARVEY, ILLINOIS, EDWARD DONNELL WILLIAMS OF ILLINOIS, PATRICIA A (SLUGGER) MARTIN, YOLANDA F (LIZZY) MARTIN HER GRANDDAUGHTERS WHOM SHE ADOPTED (40) GRANDCHILDREN, (61) GREAT GRANDCHILDREN (60) GREAT GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, BROTHER (4) BROTHERS ALL OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS CHARLES (VALERIE) WILLIAMS, CLEVELAND (MARY) WILLIAMS, LEROY WILLIAMS, A HOST OF NIECES, NEPHEWS, COUSINS, AUNTS, UNCLES AND FRIENDS.

 

         (8) CHILDREN PRECEDED HER IN DEATH, WILLIE (BILL) MARTIN,  FLORENCE (BABA) MARTIN, GLENN MARTIN, SADIE MARTIN-RICE, ERASTER (MICKEY) MARTIN, OZZIE (MACK) MARTIN, LUCIUS MARTIN, JESSE MARTIN, HER MOTHER AND FATHER, (1) BROTHER, DONALD WILLIAMS, GRANDPARENTS, AUNTS, UNCLES, COUSINS AN FRIENDS.

 

A Homegoing Celebration will commence at 12:00 Noon Saturday May 28, 2022 at New Life Church of Faith 1419 N. Bowman Ave, Danville. Officiating Pastor Miller. A visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service.
