Oliver Oatis Obituary

Oliver Charles Oatis, 67, of Danville, departed this life on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at the United Samaritan Hospital to be with the Lord after battling with liver cancer.

Oliver Charles Oatis was born on August 24, 1952 in Natchez, Mississippi to the union of Eloise Felton and Thomas Oatis and moved to San Francisco, CA where his dad was stationed nearby. As a young boy, Charles moved to West Memphis, Arkansas with his mother who later married Clarence Hamilton, Sr. He attended Wonder Junior High in 1969. After high school, he worked as a former television repairman at the family owned business at Audio Video Telco Radio Repair shop in California. He later studied at East Arkansas Community college and Danville Community college as an Electronics technician and later became a truck driver.

After becoming disabled from a motorcycle accident and learning his fate of having liver cancer; Charles was determined to continue to live his life. Despite the trials and tribulations of life, although not an active member of the church; he was a true believer of Jesus Christ.

Charles loved to go fishing and so did the kids; he made it a point for us to learn to fish and he had a passion for playing the piano and writing his own lyrics where he played for the local senior citizens facility, church and where he resided at the Vermilion House in Danville, IL. He had an affectious laugh that would make the saddest trooper smile.

He leaves to cherish his lovely memory to his sons, James Harden(MS), Sakata K. Oatis(TN), Kevin Oatis(MI) and Orlando Munn(Ark); his daughters (Melanie L. Dunlap(TN), Audera Oatis-Cox (TX) and Britney Charnel Oatis (TX). His siblings Handy Hamilton, Roosevelt Hamilton, Mary Hamilton of West Memphis, Arkansas Donald Hamilton of Danville, sisters Claudette Oatis, Arnette Oatis and Monique Oatis from California and younger sister Etientte Oatis of Monticello, MS. Grandchildren (13) and great-grandchildren (6) and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, (Eloise Felton) Arkansas; father (Thomas Oatis) of Monticello, MS; sister (Judy Hamilton); two brothers (Vance & Clarence Hamilton, Jr.) of Arkansas, two nephews Lamonte K. Turner (Ark.) and De’Andre Moreman of Danville, IL. Paternal and maternal grandparents.
