Norma Jean Sloan, affectionately known as “Granny,” was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She transitioned from this life surrounded by family on January 8, 2024, in Monroe, N.C. Born June 18, 1934, to Lawrence and Cora Waughfield in Danville Il. She attended and graduated from schools in Danville. She retired from General Motors.
Norma Jean was loving, kind, and a beacon of warmth and wisdom. She found immense joyfor God, attending church, spending time with family, reading, and gardening.
Norma Jean leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Clifford M. Sloan IV (Fumie) of Spring TX, Cordell Sloan of Chicago IL; grandchildren Crushion Stubbs of Champaign IL, Cavell Stubbs of Chicago IL, Catrice Sloan of Charlotte NC, Clayvonte and Contrelius Sloan of Danville IL, and Ciara Sloan of IndianapolisIN, and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Norma Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Cora and Lawrence Waughfield, a daughter Cynthia Stubbs, a son Curtis Sloan, a grandson Marquet Newsome and a great grandson Clayvonte Sloan Jr.
A visitation will be held on Thursday January 18, 2024 from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon at Leek & Sons Funeral Home 304 E. Williams St. Danville.
