Nicholas Malachi Griffin was born on December 14, 2006, to the parents of Denitra L. Brown and Michael L. Griffin in Champaign, IL. He was affectionately known by his family and friends as Bam.
Nicholas attended Urbana High School and Ready Program in Champaign. Nicholas was an intelligent and genuine young man, who was always eager to lend a helping hand to anybody he came in contact with, especially his loved ones. He enjoyed playing video games, listening to music, and most importantly, spending time with family.
On January 9, 2025, Nicholas Griffin departed and made his transition from this world. He was a wonderful and loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. His life will forever be cherished in the lives of his Mother, Denitra Brown; Father, Michael Griffin; Brothers: Malando McMillion, Michael, Terrynce, Jamal, and Kyle; Sisters: Yolanda, Mariah, Nicole, Tamara, Michelle; Aunts: Latonya Brown, Deanna Pelmore, Latoya Griffin; Uncles: Robert Caston, Anthony Brown, Coriando Brown, Shannon Brown, Derrick Lambert, Christopher Hugger; Maternal Grandparents: Phillip and Shelia Harvey; Maternal Great-Grandmother: Pearlene Brown; Paternal Grandmother: Bonnie Griffin; Great-Aunt: Darleen Sallee; Great-Uncle: Briscoe Brown; Special Friends: Chatayah Bailey, Kaniyah Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Nicholas was preceded in death by sisters, Turquois Jenkins and Mikeanesha Moore-Fondia; Maternal Grandmother, Wilma Brown; Paternal Grandmother, Jimmie Griffin; Paternal Grandfather, Michael Summers; Uncle Nicholas Griffin.
A celebration of life will commence at 12:00 Noon Friday January 24, 2025 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home 1215 W. Bradley Ave. Urbana. Eulogist: Pastor Jordan Simmons. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service. Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery.
