Minnie started her journey in this life on February 01, 1937 in Greenwood, Mississippi, born to Blanch McCaskill and Alec Wash. She was the oldest of nine children born to Blanch McCaskill, and the only child of Alec Wash.
Minnie grew up in Greenwood, Mississippi where she met and married William Fisher. To this union six children were born. In 1964, it was the decision of the family, in search of the melting pot, to join in the great migration to Chicago, Illinois.
Minnie accepted Jesus as her personal savior, which led to her becoming one of the first members of Fairfield Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Edward Morgan and Rev. Thomas Varughese.
Minnie was very active in the church as she was a member of the missionary board and remained active until her health failed. Her mission work always brought a smile to her face and she was never too tired to help a friend in need. She taught Sunday school for many years and made sure her children were taught the word of God.
Minnie was a faithful believer of God and a strong woman of prayer. In times when her health failed, she would sit quietly in her wheelchair, close her eyes and pray. Her busy schedule included many years working for R.R. Donnelley until early retirement. At this time, she chose to return to her first love of being a caretaker.
Minnie's interests included her work, spending time with her family, making goody bags for her grandchildren every holiday, and offering a helping hand to anyone in need. She loved to cook for her family a variety of different meals and bake all sorts of cakes, pies, and many desserts. Her family was the joy of her life.
Minnie's journey ended on March 27, 2020. She leaves to cherish her memories her children, William, Charles, Caesar, Shirley and Anthony; two grandchildren whom she raised as her own children, Lisa and Eric; five great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, five siblings and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers, daughter Blanche, and granddaughter Sonya.
