Mr. Michael Wayne Smith Jr. was born March 27, 1974 in Danville, Illinois
to Jeanette Woods and Michael Wayne Smith Sr., he was the only boy union
to his parents. He departed into eternal life December 27, 2024. Michael
leaves behind his wife, Aulitha Smith, three children Michael Wayne Smith III, Jaleehl Markehl Smith and Dequan Demonte Wayne Smith and his grandchildren, whom he dearly loved, Jada Mitchell and Cierrean (CeCe) Mitchell. Michael also loved and cherished the
presence of his siblings Valerie Smith, Terrie Boyd, Najee Shabazz,
LaRachael Rolle (Brother-in-Law Joseph Rolle), and Tia Smith.
Michael was proceeded in death by his grandparents Mary A Woods,
Alexander Woods, Edna Mae Smith and a niece Kenyetta Sims. Michael held
a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews; Glen, Kenyasia, LaKyla, Jaivion, Iiah, and Zyland. A great niece Kalaysia, and a great nephew Landyn. He
also leaves behind a host of cousins he always mentioned as his favorites—
Janell Woods, Robert Butler, Jay Givings, Emmanual Woods, Duane (Shaq) Pittman and Sastina (Mark) Adkisson. He too held dear to him a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and a very special friend he worked with—POP DADDY. Michael loved his family near and far from state to state.
Michael gave himself to Christ at Kingsley Terrance Church of God in Christ
in Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended public schools in Danville as well as
Indianapolis. Michael worked various jobs near and far; he was proud of
his accomplishments and always kept a huge smile on his face.
Michael was a family-oriented man who had a heart out of this world. He
was a man with a Lion’s Heart made of Gold, with a bright beautiful
contagious smile and laugh with a lot of jokes. He was very kind and
generous; he was a happy go lucky individual. His hobbies included
listening to music, weightlifting, fishing, cooking, dancing, making rhymes,
beats and flexing his muscles. Michael could always be counted on to
assist with any handyman needs and jobs.
Michael will forever be missed by family and a host of friends. We will
cherish his laughter, memories and love of life he shared with us. May he
continue to rest in the arms of Jesus Christ, our Savior. Amen.
A homecoming celebration will commence at 12:00 noon January 10, 2025 at New Life Church of Faith 1419 N. Bowman Ave. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service.
