Melvin Davis McNeal 69 of Danville, Illinois peacefully transitioned this life at 5:00 p.m. Saturday June 8, 2024 at Accolade Healthcare with family present.
Melvin was born March 25, 1955 to his parents Edward N. Murray Jr. and Mary A. McNeal. Coming up Melvin played football at East Park Middle School, and also attended Danville High School. Melvin Resided in Kansas City MO. Most of his young adult life before moving back home where he worded as a Postal Carrier. Melvin was gifted at playing several musical instruments such as lead guitar, keyboard and drums. He enjoyed cooking and tending to his plants. Melvin was always happy to spend time with family and held a soft spot in his heart for all children. Melvin was a member of New Life Church of Faith where he served on the Deacon Board. Melvin will be truly missed by his family and forever loved but never forgotten.
Melvin leaves to cherish his memory, his loving mother, Mary A. Murray, three brothers; Anthony (Robyn) McNeal, Donald (Kirsten) Murray and Michael (Marilyn) Murray, two sisters; Patricia
(Troy) Sutton and Brenda Rose. A god daughter Romelia Larry, Four grandchildren; Kyra, Jayden, Londyn, and Jamaya, a special friend April Hampton, homecare worker Vivinette Townsend and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
Melvin was preceded in death by his father Edward N. Murray Jr., brother Edward Lee Murray, and grandmother Marguerite Murray.
A celebration of life will commence at 12:00 Noon Saturday June 15, 2024 at New Life Church of Faith 1419 N. Bowman Ave, Danville. Eulogist: Pastor Thomas W. Miller. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery.
A public viewing will be held on Friday June 14, 2024 from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Leek & Sons Funeral Home 304 E. Williams St., Danville.
