Maurice LaWayne Thompson 

July 25, 1978 – November 2, 2025 

Maurice LaWayne Thompson, age 47, of Danville, Illinois, passed away on November 2, 2025, at Carle Hospital in Champaign IL. Maurice was born on July 25, 1978, to Vicki Thompson and the late Terrell Thompson. 

Maurice graduated from Danville District 118 School and worked in the restaurant industry for many years. He was a devoted fan of the San Francisco 49ers and loved spending time playing video games with his father and his boys. Maurice’s favorite colors were black and red—he was known for rarely wearing anything else. 

Maurice leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Vicki Thompson; his children, Kamari Johnson, Maurice, Da’Jaun, Mareesha, Zaire Thompson, and a special son, Caleb Hill; and his grandchildren, Ave, Bella, Maurice, Kyrie, and Kinsley. 

He is also survived by his brothers, Dahinte (Angie) Thompson, Jermaine King, and Jimmy (JT) Thompson; his sisters, Evangelist Treva (Pastor David) Moore, Latera (Nathen) Kidd, Toreha (Nae) (Thomas) Roundtree, Leezaira Thompson, and Terriel Thompson; as well as aunts, uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly. 

Maurice was preceded in death by his father, Terrell Thompson; his maternal grandparents, James “Hook” Henderson and Vergie Mae Sanders; and his paternal grandparents, Jimmie Lee Thompson and Gloria Jean Brown. 

Maurice will be remembered for his kind heart, sense of humor, and deep love for his family. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
