Mary “Bea” Brown, 86, of Indianapolis, IN, formerly of Danville, IL, received her wings on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at home in the comfort of her loving family. She was born to the late Northern and Mattie Cleveland on May 1, 1936, in Centerville, AL.
“Bea” was a faithful, lifelong member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Mother Board, Avid devoted Prayer Warrior, and Bible Study Attendee. “Bea” was a member of the Women of Antioch Committee and the Antioch Missionary Baptist Senior Choir. She was also a member of the Birthday Club and an honorary Precinct Election Official for over 10 years. “Bea’s” role as a Sister, Aunt, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother was her greatest joy and pleasure.
“Bea” leaves to cherish her wonderful memory children, Marie Cleveland-Glover, Michelle Williams, Reggie (Denise) Lipscomb, Derrick (Kim) Lipscomb, and Troy Brown; 25 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Anita Smalls, Bertha (Lemme) Brandon, Ellen Brooks, and Alice (Lee) Shields; two brothers, LuGene and Dale Cleveland; and, a host of wonderful nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Arthur, Northern Jr, Jesse, James, Michael, and Jerry Cleveland; two sisters, Ethel Cleveland and Dorothy Cleveland-Burton; and her dearest Best Friend, Betty Ann Gouard.
A Homegoing Celebration will commence at 12:00 Noon Monday March 27, 2023 at New Life Church of Faith 1419 N. Bowman Ave, Danville. Eulogist: Pastor Derrick Lipscomb. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery.
A public viewing will be held from 12:00 Noon until 3:00 pm Sunday March 26, 2023 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home 304 E. Williams St, Danville.
