Martez L. Wilson

Martez LaPrie Wilson, 41 of Danville, Illinois, transitioned from life to eternity alongside his brother, Edward Bernard Wilson, December 17, 2020.

Martez was born on April 24, 1979 in Danville, Illinois, the son of Drucilla Hayes and Ricky Patton.

Martez leaves to cherish his memory: a son; Timothy Rowe; mother Drucilla Hayes, stepfather Larry Hayes, father Ricky Patton: brothers; DelShunta (Lavon Sanders) Hayes and Dane Lamar Hayes; paternal grandmother,  Four aunts; Glenda Withers, Tywon (David) Gouard, Tissia (Charles) Henderson, and Rachel (Carlos) Cunningham; three uncles; Robert Wilson, Prentice (Cortina) Wilson, and Timmie (Martha) Sanford; and many family and friends. He was proceeded by his maternal grandparents, Ruth and Jimmie Sanford: three aunts, Brenda Morris, Shirley Wilson and Sylvia Wilson.

There are so many ways to describe Martez. First and foremost, Martez was a Godly man. His spirit was evident in his conversations and songs. He loved to work and walk the community. Martez was his mother’s “GO TO” person. He was always willing to meet her every need. He loved old classic (Old School) movies. He was so good at knowing the scripts, he could tell you what was going to be said next. He was a kind and caring person, who was known throughout the community. He was a faithful member of Tabernacle of Praise where he served diligently.

One of his favorite scriptures was John 3:16 … “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.”.

Sleep well son; we will see you in the morning.

A private family Homegoing Celebration will commence at 12:00 Noon on Monday December 28, 2020 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St. Officiating Bishop Barry Elliott. A visitation will begin at 11:00 until the time of  the service. A public visitation will be held on Sunday December 27, 2020 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Leek & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will follow after at Spring Hill Cemetery.

Due to CDC regulations, Attendance restrictions will be enforced.
