On March 10, 1942, in Danville, Illinois, a loving son was born to Clifford Parrish and Virginia Dare Anglin. Mark Dennis Anglin, was affectionately known as "Dennis" by family and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Virginia; his sisters, Marvetta, Diane, and his brothers; Melvin, Earl, and Larry.
Dennis began his educational path in Danville, he later relocated and graduated from Central High School in Louisville, Kentucky. He joined the U.S. Army after graduation and served our country well during in Germany. After Mark completed his tour of duty and received his Honorable Discharge he moved to Chicago, Illinois.
Mark accepted Christ as his Lord and his Savior and was baptized at Third Central Christian United Church in Louisville, Kentucky. After relocating to Chicago, Mark joined Park Manor Christian Church, serving God and his church faithfully. Mark was an active member of God's church, he served as a Deacon for many years, visiting the sick and sharing the word of God. He also served on the Board of Trustees making decisions he felt better suited to the church and the congregation. Mark was a member of the March Birthday Club and loved to fellowship with his group. His desire to be closer to the Lord was evident in his eagerness to study and discuss the bible.
August 12, 1995, Mark and Patricia were united as one in the eyes of God and witnessed by family and friends. In this union, Mark was honored to gain a son, Michael, whom he nurtured into adulthood. Mark was a great provider and protector of his family. Mark was stern, however, due to his desire to "teach you to fish so that you could eat for a lifetime". This was a lesson he taught his reluctant wife, who he encouraged even in his last days, that she could do it and together they did! The family love and bond they shared were cherished for almost 40 years and will forever be in their hearts.
Mark was a quick study. He joined the steel industry over 45 years ago, self-taught, he had the admiration of many of his co-workers who were amazed by his charismatic personality. A man who could take a product, find a niche for it, and make a profit. Mark formed his own company before later joining West Walker Steele. Working with and being admired by some of the same people he started with 45 years ago.
Mark completed his journey on the 29th day of June 2024. He made a peaceful transition at home with his loving wife Patricia by his side, together in familiar surroundings which they created, just as he wanted. He was also surrounded by his family from Chicago and Danville. We know there was a welcoming celebration in Heaven to greet Mark when he arrived, and so many that he loved dearly preceded him into eternal life.
Mark was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Patricia, son Michael, brother Glen King, sister Bernetta King, brother-in-law Michael Taylor(Diane) of Danville IL, and sister-in-law Anna King(Larry) of Chicago IL. Three special loving cousins Leslie Cunningham(Roosevelt), Andrea Jackson(Henry), and Virginia Sibley(Claude). A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of life will commence at 12:00 noon Tuesday at New Life Church of Faith, 1419 N. Bowman Ave. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the start of the service. Interment: Danville National Cemetery.
A public viewing will be held Monday June 8, 2024 from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Leek & Sons Funeral Home 304 E. Williams St.
