Marice (Johnson) Gant was born on October 2, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Anabelle McNeese. She was the 5th child of 11 kids, She was Married to the late and great CJ JOHNSON. She Entered the presence of the lord April 21, 2025.
She entered the workforce in her teenage years. She received her diploma at Parkland College in Champaign, IL. She was a CNA for plenty of years also and a Private Home Care Aid. She also worked at the University of Illinois for over several years as a cook.
She enjoyed many hobbies and loved to Dress to Impress. She was always camera ready and life of the party. She loved Card Games, Cooking, her kids and GrandKids. She also loved to Travel to Church events and see the United States. If you needed someone to talk to she didn't sugar coat anything. If you needed that tea she had it. She was deeply rooted in her family connection, and her love for her family held a special place in her heart. But always remember SHE DIDN'T GIVE NO FOOKINANNY about what you thought of her!!!
She was preceded in death by her Mother, Annabelle McNeese and her late husband CJ JOHNSON. 2 Brothers Thomas McNeese and Eddie Lee Johnson. Sisters Rosemary, Barbara Jean Hardy, Elaine Sanders, Doretha Gordon, Diane McFarland, Denise Brown. She has 2 sisters SandraKay Bass, Everia Brown and ,Sandra Faye Dunn Sister in law and 2 brothers in law Top Dunn and Gary still living./ Marice (Johnson) Gant leaves behind 7 children: Theodore Johnson of SanAntonio, TX, Archie Davis of San Antonio, TX, Lenda Dockery of Rantoul, IL Rashalonda (Loretta) Davis of Champaign, IL , Lashandra Davis of San Antonio, TX, Jemarice Gant of Champaign, IL, Keonte Gant of Champaign, IL. and 28 grandkids and 7 Great Grandkids: and a host of nieces and nephews,and friends to cherish her loving Memory.
Services will commence, at noon, Monday, May 5, 2025 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 1215 West Bradley Ave., Urbana. Visitation will begin at 11am until the time of the service.
