Lynette Maclin Obituary

Lynnette Ramesica Maclin was born a twin on August 10, 1964, in Chicago, Illinois, to her mother, Mary Ellen Maclin, and father, James Griffin, who preceded her in death.

Lynn accepted Jesus Christ while attending Pilgrim Baptist Church.

She attended Van Vlissingen and Kohn Elementary Schools in Chicago, IL.  After Elementary School, she attended Corliss High School. During high school, Lynn met Ricky Cornell McKinzy. Soon after meeting, they began to start a family with three children, Derrick Maclin, Monique Maclin, and Lashea Maclin, and one stepson, Samuel Moore.

Lynn received her GED and picked up a trade as a hairstylist while attending Cannella's Beauty School. She started her first career at Josephine's Jet Set on 79th in Chicago. For a while, Lynn left Chicago and moved to Gary, Indiana, while she was still working at the hair salon. Several years later, Lynn returned to Chicago, searching for a better life for herself and her kids. In 1994, Lynn and Ricky moved their family to Champaign, Illinois. Not long after living in Champaign, Ricky was called home to be with the Lord.

Lynn then met Isaiah Coprich and began a new life with him and her children. She gained a life-long friendship with Isaiah.

Lynn worked several jobs in Champaign before finding a career at Kraft Heinz in 2015.  She remained there until her passing in 2023.

Lynette was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in March; she departed this life on April 24,  2023, surrounded by her three children and long-time friend.

Lynn leaves to cherish her memory, twin sister, Annette Maclin; 3 children, Derrick Maclin, Monique Maclin and Lashea Maclin; 1 stepson, Samuel Moore; 1 daughter-in-law, Naomi Maclin; 2 granddaughters, Alorah and Ariyah Maclin; siblings, Lorraine Sardin, Gregory (Mary) Griffin, James (Giselle) Griffin, Cynthia Griffin, Juanita Harper, Barbara Cotton, Kenneth Randell, Yolanda Maclin and Robert Dye; and, a host of aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

There were some people Lynn spoke with on a daily basis: Rose Johnson, Michelle Murphy, Elma Griffin, Tina Robinson, Mike Mitchell, Cheryl Murphy, Deidra Mitchell, Tomeka, Ladonna, Vonzella and Sonja.  They will also miss her.

Lynn was preceded in death by her mother, Mary E. Maclin; father, James Griffin; two brothers, Homer Randell and Donald Griffin.
