Luther Payne

Luther Payne, 35 of Champaign IL., passed peacefully on April 3, 2024 in Bloomington IL. He was born on January 30, 1989 in Urbana IL. Luther is the son of Patricia Payne and James Nelson.

He attended the Champaign schools and was a graduate of Central High School. Luther was a member of Grove Street Church of God in Christ for 19 years. He later became a member of Morning Star Free Will Baptist Church. He was an avid sports fan, especially loving basketball.

His memories will be cherished by his daughter T’Ariya Payne, his wife Carmela Stevenson, step daughters; Heavenly and Angel, grandson Kaison, his mother and step dad, sister; Paula Payne and Kyanna Payne, nieces; Keyarea Payne, Teyarea Dennis, Alayna Lillard, Telia Rowan, Sanyah Hill, Aunts; Florence Roebuck, Rebecca Austin, Diane Payne, an uncle Ralph Payne, and a host of relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will commence at 11:00 am Friday April 12, 2024 at Morning Star Free Will Baptist Church 1402 W. Eads St., Urbana. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am until the time of the service. Eulogist: Pastor Jimmie O. Holmes Sr. Interment will follow after Lincoln Memorial Park.
