Lovie Jean Taylor was born in Crystal Springs, MS on May 3rd, 1942 to Mary Galloway and Fred Taylor. Love was a wonderful mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and great grandmother.
Lovie was a very caring, considerate and charismatic woman. Every morning she looked forward to watching her ‘soaps’ and sharing moments with her grandchildren. Lovie T2 had an infectious smile and laugh with a wicked sense of humor that could light up any room she stepped into. She appreciated a good joke and a hearty laugh to keep a conversation going. Love has always been the rock and the backbone for many family members and friends.
Lovie attended Parkland College where she got her associates degree and majored in accounting. She went on to use her degree at the University of Illinois where she worked for over 30 years. Lovie, a romantic novel fanatic, was a part of a book club for over 10 years.
On April 8th, 2025 Lovie Jean departed from this Earth peacefully and gracefully. Lovie will be preceded in death by her parents Mary and Fred, her brother Charles Taylor, her sister Helen Wade, her son Dwayne Henderson Sr. and her grandson Andre Young.
Lovie will be truly missed by her daughter Sherry Henderson-Young, sister Queen Hines (Billy), 2 surviving aunts and uncle along with 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and a host of relatives and close friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 Noon, Thursday, April 17 at Leek & Sons Urbana. Visitation begins at 11:00 am until the start of the service.
