Lisa Laverne Thorp Brooks

Lisa LaVerne was born to Edward Thorpe Sr., and June Bigelow on October 9, 1962. She is a graduate of Urbana High School (1981), Parkland Community College (1983), where she earned an Associate of Science Degree, and also attended Southern Illinois University.

Lisa has been married to Michael David Brooks for the past 39 years. Lisa and Michael have two (2) sons, Brannon Michael (Taylor) and Brooke Austin (Stephanie) and four (4) grandchildren: Halo, Blaise, Camila, Boston.

Lisa was proceeded in death by her parents Edward (2001) and June (1999).  She is succeeded by her siblings Edna Gillispie (William) of Salisbury, NC, Eva Thorpe of Chicago, Illinois, Edward Thorpe Jr of Champaign, IL.(Claira), Gail Thorpe of Urbana, IL, Terry Thorpe (Brenda) of Colorado Springs, CO, Donna Thorpe of Urbana, IL, William Thorpe of Urbana, Il, and 17 nieces and nephews.

Services will commence at 12:00 noon, Friday January 16, 2026 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home 1215 W. Bradley Ave. Urbana. Visitation will begin at 11AM until the start of the service. Burial Lincoln Cemetery
