Linda Ann Walls, 62, of Danville, IL, peacefully passed away on September 11, 2025, at OSF Hospital in Danville, IL. She was born on July 24, 1963, to Williams Walls Sr. and Barbara Walls, and was the second oldest of three children.
A proud graduate of Danville High School, Class of 1982, Linda worked at the East Central Illinois-Community Action Agency in Head Start. Later she went to work at Chem-Cast Ltd. Throughout her life, Linda’s greatest joy was her family. She was the loving mother of three sons, Anthony (Latay Shaw) Gouard Sr., Demetrius (Mica Brown) Gouard, and Tyrone (Edrisha) Gouard, and she poured her love into them and her grandchildren and great grandson.
Linda was an active and devoted member of Second Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board, in the Culinary Department, with the AC Missionary group, and helped with Vacation Bible School. She cherished every opportunity to give back to others and stayed involved with her church until health challenges made it more difficult.
Her hobbies included watching TD Jakes, every Sunday, reading, listening to gospel music, and spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Linda also enjoyed taking care of her flowers, checking in on her family, and playing bingo at Hawthorne Inn, where she became a familiar and comforting presence to all. She had a special way of making people feel heard and cared for, and her room was often a sanctuary for anyone who needed a listening ear. Linda was named Valentine’s Day Queen of Hawthorne Inn in February of this year.
Linda’s loving nature extended to her dogs, Bandit and Rocky, who were constant companions. She also adored feeding her sons’ friends and made everyone feel at home. Linda’s kindness, strength, and humor will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Linda leaves behind her three sons, a sister, Renee Walls, a brother, William James Walls Jr., and nine grandchildren: Anthony Gouard Jr., Me’khye Gouard, Antiazha Gouard, Demetrius Gouard Jr., Emani Hughes, Anterrious Gouard, Iziah Hays, Antavion Gouard, and I’mari Williams. She also leaves behind one great-grandchild, Alyeis Gouard, several dear friends, including Suzan Grant, Linda Grinestaff, Sherry Shaw, Tammy Davis, Polly Jimson, Leona Moody, Eva Nelson, Kathy Caston, and Terri Young and host of cousins.
Linda was preceded in death by her precious granddaughter, Antaejha Franklin.
She will be missed deeply by all who loved her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A celebration of life will commence at 12:00 Noon Monday September 22, 2025 at New Life Church of Faith 1419 N. Bowman Ave. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of service. Burial: Springhill Cemetery.
