Lillie Mae Worthington was born in West Memphis, Arkansas on March 16, 1939, to parents Eligia Lobley and Vastie Williams. Although she spent her earliest years in Arkansas, Lillie Mae moved to Danville, Illinois with her family, where she attended elementary school and high school.
Not long after her graduation from high school, she began a very long association with Tee-Pak, her employer. She never missed a scheduled day from work, and she was never late. A clear example of the hard work and dedication she exhibited throughout her adult life. Also, following her graduation from high school, she married Jesse Worthington and they had four children together, namely Linda, Jerry, David and Michael. She loved her children and was a loving and devoted Mother. She also loved her grandchildren and was always happy to hear from them.
Lillie Mae was a long time member of Antioch Baptist Church, where she served on various committees and in various capacities, including the Usher Board. She also volunteered her time counseling children at Danville High School, where she shared her life experiences to help guide young people in a positive direction.
She leaves to cherish her memory, Linda Porter of Dallas, Texas, Jerry Worthington (Charlotte) of Carrollton, Texas, David Worthington (Chana) of Danville, Illinois and Michael Worthington of Grand Prairie, Texas; grandchildren, Belinda Worthington, Ronnie Worthington, Mike Worthington, David Worthington, Jerry Worthington, Ayron Worthington, Marcus Worthington, Christopher Worthington and Jessica Worthington; her brother, Cleo Westland; and, other extended family members, including nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as, several dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Roosevelt Lobley, Pearlie Mae Davis, Woodrow Lobley and Mary Westland; and granddaughter, Keisha Worthington-Martinez.
Clearly, someone’s life cannot be summed up in the few lines of an obituary. That is why it is important that those who knew her, who loved her and who spent time with her continue to speak of her goodness and of her amazing life, so that her memory will never die.
