Our beloved Leflora Patterson, 87, of Savoy, Illinois departed August 22, 2021 at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana, Illinois.
Leflora was born July 5, 1934 in Mayersville, Mississippi, the daughter of Climon Patterson and Lottie Patterson.
Leflora accomplished one of her greatest academic achievements at the age of 73, when she received her high school diploma from Urbana High School in Urbana, IL. Over the years, she has worked as a cook for the University of Illinois and Bank Teller in Chicago, IL. Most recently, she worked in administration for her church – Mt. Calvary, where she also served on the Mother’s Board and Pastoral Care Ministry. Leflora loved serving her church home and pastor.
Some of her favorite activities were praying and reading; in particular the Word of God. Leflora was affectionately known for her feisty attitude and loving spirit. She loved her family.
Leflora loved the Lord and was baptized as a teenager in Mississippi. She later attended Living Word Christian Centerwhere she served in the Children’s Church, as Pastor’s Aide, and Prayer Warrior.
She departed for her heavenly home at 5:55 pm on Sunday, August 22, 2021, leaving to cherish fond and happy memories: sister, Etha (Ebell) Reid, brother, Richard Patterson, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Best friend Bobbie Thurman and Spiritual brother Arthur Hawkins.
Her brothers: Climon Patterson, Jr., Sullivan Moore, Jr., Willivry Patterson (Bobbie), and James Members sisters: Ruth Williams, Alean Patterson, and Hattie Franklin proceeded her in death.
A Homegoing Celebration for Leflora Patterson will commence at 11:00 am Friday, August 27,2021 at Mount Calvary Baptist Church 1601 W. Bloomington Rd, Champaign. Eulogist: Pastor Lekevie C. Johnson. A visitation will begin at 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow after at Woodlawn Cemetery.
