Laura Eugenia Jennings, affectionately known to family and friends as Gina, departed this life peacefully at her residence on June 26, 2026, at the age of 67.
Born on March 6, 1959, in Champaign, Illinois, Gina was the beloved daughter of Jerrylynne A. Jennings and William “Count Demon” Evans. She was educated in the Urbana school system and dedicated part of her professional life to serving her community through positions at the University of Illinois Law Library and the Champaign Public Library.
Gina embraced life with a creative spirit and a deep appreciation for the arts. She found joy and inspiration in music, dancing, writing, poetry, and drumming. Her creativity, warmth, and vibrant personality touched the lives of those who knew her and will be remembered by all who shared in her journey.
She leaves to cherish her memory her lifelong companion, William Abrams; her beloved brother, Roman Gordon; her cherished first cousins, Michael (Bridgette) Wood, Stephanie Wood, Suzanne Edward, Carmen Wood, and Kevin (Janice) Wood; her dear friends, Danny Mitchell and Marilyn Phillips; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whose lives were enriched by her presence.
Though Gina’s earthly journey has come to an end, the love she shared, the memories she created, and the lives she touched will remain a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of life will commence at 12:00 Noon Thursday July 16, 2026 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home 1215 W. Bradley Ave. Urbana. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service.
